About
The 12th International Conference on Cryptococcus & Cryptococcosis (ICCC) is hosted by The University of Exeter, United Kingdom, which will take place on 28th June - 3rd July 2026. We are aiming to build on the strengths of previous events by bringing the international community of Cryptococcus researchers together to discuss the latest research, and act as a platform for researchers of all stages of their careers. In addition to the conference, we will be organising several workshops, and local excursions for participants to make the most of their visit.
NEW (28th April): We are delighted this year to be hosting a joint event with the Exeter Climate Forum, Tuesday June 30 16:00 - 18:00. The Exeter Climate Forum brings together policy makers from the UK and internationally to shape priorities for COP31 and represents a unique opportunity for members of the Cryptococcus and Medical Mycology communities to bring attention to the impact of fungi on global health. The event will feature a panel discussion on the intersection of fungal disease and climate change, with Prof Robin May, Chief Scientific Officer for the UK Health Security Agency; and Prof Sarah Gurr, Chair of Food Security, University of Exeter; and Dame Natalie Bennet, a champion of AMR and member of the UK House of Lords. The panel will be followed by a reception and outreach activities for networking between attendees of the two conferences. Day rates are also available for those not attending ICCC who may wish to attend the joint session.
NEW (6th May): ISHAM Scholarships - The ISHAM Council has provided 10 scholarships for ISHAM members to attend the ISHAM Working Group pre-meeting to take place June 28 from 14:00-16:00. Scholarships of 1,000 CHF will be awarded to cover registration and accommodation for the entire ICCC2026 meeting. If you wish to apply for a scholarship, please contact ICCC2026@exeter.ac.uk with your working group title and abstract and your ISHAM member number to be considered for support.
Conference t-shirts and hoodies (Coming soon!) - We are excited to be able to offer ICCC 2026 conference tshirts and hoodies, which will be available soon for pre-sale via our website. All proceeds will go towards defraying accommodation and registration costs for attendees from LMIC backgrounds.
Meals - Please note in an effort to keep costs down for attendees, we are only providing dinner on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Lunch will be provided every day, and there will be light bites available throughout the day at the conference. Monday we will provide subsidised meals and drinks at the campus pub for the mentoring session. Wednesday after 5pm will be our evening off from all scheduled events. We hope this will encourage attendees to arrange some meals off campus, where a wide range of options are available a short walk or bus journey into town.
Mentoring social event - On Monday June 29th, there will be a formal Careers Mentoring event at the campus pub, with thanks to our sponsors for subsidised drinks. The event is designed to facilitate conversations between Early Career Researchers and more senior members of the community on topics that matter to you. If you would like to be a mentor, or suggest a topic please reach out.
Small meeting rooms - bookable rooms will be available to facilitate smaller team meetings you may wish to organize during the conference. Please get in touch if you would like to access this option.
ICCCC Banquet - Our meeting will include a banquet meal and entertainment on Thursday July 2nd , featuring a live Ceilidh band and dance caller. We hope you will join us on the floor for some traditional English dancing!
Excursions - We are arranging three excursion options: a walking tour of Exeter city, a 5 mile hike around Haytor, and a bus trip to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site. Sign up will be available shortly on our website. Excursions will take place on Friday July 3rd, after the conference.
